For data providers
Railworld AB processes timetable and station data for rail.world and nachtzug.net. This page sets out what we use your data for, how we handle it and how to reach us.
What the data is used for
rail.world is an independent information service on rail travel, worldwide and in 27 languages. It shows which connections exist, how they fit together and what travellers need to know — especially travellers from other countries and language areas.
Timetable data is used to show lines and connections correctly and to calculate long journeys across borders. Where it helps travellers, a link to booking with the operator or with partners may be part of this.
Licences and attribution
- Every source is credited publicly, with its licence and a link.
- A notice states that the data has been modified for presentation.
- The operator’s timetable always takes precedence.
- The licence terms of each source are checked individually and complied with.
- No resale, and no passing on of raw data to third parties.
- Individual agreements are possible on request.
Processing
Every feed goes through the same chain: services are condensed into line patterns, stops are matched to our own station register, duplicates are merged and validity periods are carried over. Every import runs as a dry run first and is applied only after it has been checked. Information maintained by our editors is protected and is not overwritten by any import.
Technology
PostgreSQL as the central database, timetable preparation in Python, the application in TypeScript (Next.js, Payload CMS) and routing on a graph of our own. Operated on our own servers at Hetzner in the EU. Preferred format: GTFS; other formats by arrangement.
